Frequently asked questions
What can I expect from a first session?
In a first session we would typically discuss what has prompted you to seek support. I would ask about any previous experience of counselling you have, if any, and what your hopes are from attending sessions. I would also ask for some contact details, and discuss confidentiality and it's limits.
What is your approach to counselling and psychotherapy?
I work under the humanistic model that I trained under and draw from the person-centred approach that views clients as the expert in their lives. I provide a non-judgemental space for you to reflect on your experience, with the aim of gaining an insight into your way of being and working towards a stronger sense of self.
What is your cancellation policy?
If for some reason you need to cancel your session in advance, I ask that you give a minimum of 24 hours notice.
How can I contact you?
You can contact me by using the contact page of this website or by emailing me at colinsuttoncounselling@gmail.com. You can also reach me by phone or text message at 0892685273. If I do not answer please feel free to leave a message and I will respond as soon as I can.
How much does it cost?
Sessions typically last 50-60 minutes and cost €60. I believe cost should never be a barrier to accessing counselling so I do have limited spaces for reduced cost counselling. Please feel free to contact me and we can discuss this in our initial meeting.
Who do you work with?
I work with adults over the age of 18 on a one-to-one basis.
Where do you work from?
I have a room in Ballincollig, Cork City. It is easily accessed and serviced by bus routes and has on-site parking.
What are your Qualifications?
I hold a first class honours degree in counselling and psychotherapy from Coventry University. I completed my training in Cork, with Cork Counselling Services.
